Abbi Glines is one of my favorite authors, however, I just didn’t like this one. It has nothing to do with Glines’ writing style and I definitely understand why it got so many reviews, this story just wasn’t for me. I didn’t really like the main characters, Ashton and Beau. Maybe because I couldn’t relate to her or because I didn’t find her whole “I’m so tired of being good” deal believable, I just found them a tad annoying. I did like Sawyer though and it annoyed the hell out of me the way Ashton and Beau treated him when he chose not to stick up for Ashton when she was getting bullied for cheating on him. The bullying thing was a little over the top, especially when Ashton, supposedly not-always-so-good girl, never stuck up for herself yet was so angry when Sawyer didn’t either. Seriously? If you’re so damn tired of being good, stick up for yourself and punch that hussy in the face like she deserves!

Also, and this may or may not be spoilerish, but I really liked the idea of Ashton stepping away from both boys to let them fix their relationship without her in the picture. I thought that was really mature and considerate; the character development I was hoping for throughout the book BUT it totally didn’t stick.

Anyway, it wasn’t a bad book, like aforementioned, this one just wasn’t for me. I still love Abbi Glines and won’t let this one book hinder what I think of her and her writing style. In fact, I am giving this series another chance and am going to read The Vincent Brothers. I have a feeling Sawyer and Lana will make up for this one 🙂 Team Sawyer!
