Book description via Amazon:
Lexi White finds herself at a crossroads. After putting everything on hold to care for her ailing father, it’s finally time for her to start living her life again. An exciting new job holds the promise of a fresh start, until she comes face to face with someone from her past who has always stopped her dead in her tracks, and who evidently still has the power to make her forget her own name. This time around, Lexi’s a grown woman who refuses to back away from her dreams, even if it requires working with her old high school crush. Side by side. Every day. Will he end up being her downfall or exactly what she needs?
Vincent doesn’t even remember Lexi from high school, but he begins to take notice when the fiery young woman is hired as his new assistant. Quickly, Lexi turns his world upside down and becomes an invaluable addition not only to his team, but to his life. Having learned a few hard lessons about trust in the past, Vincent is reluctant to let down his guard, especially when it appears that someone is out to sabotage his family’s advertising agency. Professionally, they are dynamite together, but when sparks fly between them personally, will Vincent let lies and jealousy ruin everything between them, or will he finally learn not only how to love, but ultimately trust…in advertising?
Victoria Michaels once again delivers a can’t-put-it-down novel loaded with engaging characters, cheeky dialogue, and powerful emotions. Trust in Advertising is a cleverly woven tale about two people getting to know each other and ultimately themselves.
Lexi’s dreams are delayed for several years after having to take care of her ill father. After his passing she ends up getting a job working for Vincent, her high school crush. He has definitely changed from the boy she used to have a crush on into a man with a hard exterior that she barely recognizes. He never noticed her in high school and still doesn’t recognize her as his employee. Lexi slowly breaks through his shell but can she break through it enough to change what his past has turned him into?
I LOVED THIS BOOK! I seriously could not put this down. There were several moments throughout the story that made me squeal like a pre-pubescent school girl and every time I had to put it down I was super excited to get back to reading it. I am so used to reading books that take me on an intense emotional roller coaster ride but this one made me smile throughout and even made me laugh a few times, although there were a few parts that made my heart drop. I loved Lexi. She was resilient and independent, yet she had her weak moments when certain things from her past were brought up. It took me a few chapters to like Vincent, but as soon as Lexi started getting through his shell, I fell in love with him as well, even though he was an idiot throughout most of the book. I was rooting for them all the way.
The author did an amazing job at giving each character so much personality. Not only did I enjoy the two main characters, I loved the supporting characters as well, especially Lexi’s best friend Hope and Vincent’s best friend Sean. I hope she decides to write a spin-off of Hope and Sean, I would definitely put it on my To-Read list 🙂
