I received an ARC through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
Book description via NetGalley:
As an anthropologist, Holly McCartney is more comfortable in a museum than shopping on Rodeo Drive. She isn’t prepared for the media frenzy on her arrival in L.A. to accept a posthumous acting award for her late sister…or for her sister’s gorgeous friend Nate Devlin to come to her rescue. Though he resents her for some reason, she can’t fight their irresistible chemistry—especially when the paparazzi force her to stay at his mansion.
Photographer Nate only agrees to help Holly survive Hollywood for her sister’s sake, but she soon gets under his skin in a way no other woman has. The more time he spends with her, the more his attraction grows and he finds himself opening up to her in ways he never expected. But will ghosts of the past stand in the way of their perfect Hollywood ending?
This was a very cute read! The summary is pretty much spot on. Holly McCartney is off to L.A. from Australia to accept an Academy Award for her deceased actress sister, Daisy. The last thing she was expecting was for the media and paparazzi to hound her once she stepped foot off the plane. To her surprise, Nate Devlin shows up to save her from the craziness. But rather than being her knight in shining armor, he turns out to be a jerk! He comes off as an a**hole at first because he was fairly close to Daisy and from what Daisy told him, her sister Holly and her family had stopped talking to her years ago. So from the get-go, Nate thinks Holly is there just to mooch off of Daisy’s fame, and treats her with immense disdain.
Of course, Holly is the exact opposite of what Nate was expecting and the more time they spend together, the more they open up to each other. Nate switches from good guy to bad guy throughout the book, I totally had a love-hate relationship with him! They try to fight the chemistry and attraction but when they finally give in to each other, damn! It’s hot!
This is another one of those books you can relax and get lost in, if you need a break from angst and heartache. While it was mostly cute and light, it had some steamy scenes as well. Will definitely be reading more from this author
