Book description via Goodreads:
The day Preston Drake figured out that wealthy women paid well for a set of tight abs and a pretty face his life turned around.
The run down rat-infested trailer he had shared with his alcoholic mother and three younger siblings was now only a place he visited to pay the bills and stock the pantry with food.
He no longer worried about his family starving or living without electricity. The money he made entertaining rich older women more than covered his family’s needs and his own. He had it all figured out. Except…
There was this girl.
She was as innocent as he was tainted.
Amanda Hardy wished her knees didn’t get weak when Preston walked into a room. She hated the fact her heart raced when he flashed his smile in her direction. He had a different girl in his bed every night. He was the kind of boy a smart girl ran from. So, why was she coming up with ways to get close to him? Even when it was obvious he wanted to keep her at a distance.
Maybe her heart knew something the world didn’t. Maybe Preston Drake was more than just a pretty face.
This has to be my favorite of all the books I’ve read from Abbi Glines! I swear it just keeps getting better and HOTTER! In Because of Low and While It Lasts, I always thought of Preston as the pervy, player friend, but in this book. Wow, I loved him!
Preston is pretty much a gigolo because his mom sucks and he has to take care of his four younger siblings. Everyone expects the worst of him so he kind of plays into the role. Until he starts falling for his best friend’s little sister, Amanda. She has no clue about his lifestyle and at first she does anything and everything to get his attention but after he pulls her in and pushes her away for the umpteenth time, she gives up and tries to walk away from him. He knows that she deserves much more than he can give and that he is not good enough for her but he wants to be good enough for her. When they finally give in to the heat and attraction, their love story is sweet and scorching HOT.
I loved getting to know Amanda and I especially loved getting to know Preston. It was nice to be in his thoughts and get into his head. He is by far my favorite Sea Breeze guy (waahh, sorry Cage… but I will always love you!). He has the most interesting and heart breaking background and he isn’t as superficial as he seems in the other books. I would definitely have fallen for him like Amanda… or paid for him like those wealthy old hags *AHEM* what? Anyway, my favorite thing about this book is the guest appearance of my favorite couple, Cage and Eva! Though small and not too significant, I will take what I can get!
I feel like I keep repeating this but dammit Abbi Glines, you’re an amazing author! I can’t wait for the next book. I’m sure it will go beyond all of my expectations!
