Book description (via Amazon):
Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn’t think she’s the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She’s also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her “Duffy,” she throws her Coke in his face.
But things aren’t so great at home right now. Desperate for a distraction, Bianca ends up kissing Wesley. And likes it. Eager for escape, she throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with Wesley.
Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out that Wesley isn’t such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she’s falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone.
Bianca needs a distraction from the drama in her life so she turns her attention to hot playboy Wesley to help her forget all her worries. Her problems keep piling up and she ends up needing a distraction from her distraction.
Set in high school, this was a fairly quick and easy read. This is not the type of reading material I usually enjoy reading but If I were a teenager I would have enjoyed this tenfold. With that said, this was very well-written. Though there is a sort of friends-with-benefits theme present, the sex scenes were kept to a minimum as to keep the book PG-13. Bianca’s and Wesley’s problems and their reactions to them were very realistic. Keplinger did a great job with character development with almost every single character in the book.
